Alternate version (beard Ethan)

General Manips

A moody little manip of a quite Tony moment.

A B/G embrace For Valentines Day.

It's not often that a man's smile can light up a room. Tony has that rare gift. The shadowing is barely right but the content of the shot helps dissuade doubts.

Aw, can't you see the happy couple dancing? Wedding day, perhaps? Another example why black and white is a manippers best friend.

BG hotness. This one took forever to find the right shot for Giles. I wanted wandering eyes and I think it works rather well.

Sexy Buffy/Giles: As many of my manips do, this one comes from a famous perfume company advert. It took a huge amount of fiddling and though the overall piece turned out alright, it is still not quite up to par in my opinion. I'd have wished for a better Buffy shot. Still, it does promote the certain sexiness I was hoping for, even if the faces look a bit too small..

Youngster Ethan: Another example of why model agencies make for great source photos. Finding the right body style is always difficult. Lucky for me, Robin had quite the beefy physique in his youth so this isn't that far fetched of a manip. As soon as I finished it, I realized the face was too large. Oh well, better luck next time.

Willow and Giles cuddles: Don't these two look happy together? Pretty good manip except that the shadow effect and Giles hand doesn't quite look right. Not bad but not great either. *shrug* I'm picky.

Anya and Giles cuteness: The snarkiest couple and one of my very best manips. The reason this particular one is a triumph is that I've been told it looks like an actual shot. The source shot for Anya was very grainy and the shot for Giles was quite familiar to most fans which always makes for a tough manip since the illusion can be ruined if you recognize the source shots. Degrading Giles and improving Anya and some tricky cut-n-paste layers action later and bingo. GAyna!

Cutesy Buffy/Giles: I really like this one even though it's not the most perfect manip. Differences in sharpness and contrast made for a tough merge with these two but the cuteness that is Giles and Buffy just begged to come out. Since the original shot of Tony was cropped, I had to literally "draw" his arm back in and fill in some other bits and pieces to extend the photo. I think it was worth the trouble.

Giles or Tony gaspage... pick your poison: Okay, I have a thing for tummies, I admit it. If you've read my How-To page or the caption for young Ethan above, you'll know that I'm particular on my body types. I like realistic bodies for my guys. With Tony/Giles, I try to aim for less full on-beefy and go for hinting at beefcake, meaning, average. So rather than choose muscle-bound, stud muffin source shots, I choose the sexy pose shots. This is another one that just worked beautifully. I'm proud, what can I say.

And of course some shippy Ethan/Giles graphics. Awww... snuggly cuddlies. Now I know these are far from perfect. Both were a royal pain and gave me a hec of a time. It was more of an exercise to see what was possible. Sadly enough, shortly after completing these, I discovered the source shots were quite familiar and previously used by other manipers. Grrrh. I prefer to be unique in my craft so most of my more recent works are from magazine adverts I scanned myself. Though this doesn't prevent me from using shots others might use for their own manips, it does make it a bit less likely.

Men in designer suits is one thing, Ethan in them is quite another. This pair constitutes some of my all-time favorite manips. The reason? Take a look at the light. I totally lucked out in that I had the perfect head shot of Robin from his horrible less-than-average 'B' film, Megaladon. The light from both shots nearly matched up and is so dramatic, providing a mystery, noir feel. The greek bust behind him is not Janus but if that makes you like it more, stick with it. After going B&W and adding the option of a beard... Guh! Sorry... I luv's my scruffy Ethan.

Someone liked my manips and suggested that I try to do Ethan in a straitjacket. Well... alrighty then. I couldn't be happier with how this turned out. It really came together and can make even the most Ethan hating person feel sorry for him.

Beefcake young Tony shot. Needed something to spice up my LJ. The shadowing effect didn't quite work but the overall effect is enough to give me a brief smile.

A buddy of mine tackled a novel of a Giles/Ethan fic and requested a wallpaper to go along to her story. Thus, this wallpaper (which I am tickled pink about) was born. Please go check out the wonderful fic Tarnished by Trekker.

By popular demand I have decided to make this particular manip available to those who have a soft spot for the mischievous sorcerer. And for those who would like a odd pairing, why not check out this one as well.

Good intension's often produce failed experiments. This is an example of trying for sexy and getting something not quite right.

A quiet moment for the boys. Even though Giles face didn't blend so well, Ethan's meshed well enough to make it passable. This one works great on a white backdrop.

The Scar Treatment. A VLC cohort of mine mentioned how it might be nice to get a gander at our dark Ethan Rayne's manly chest. Just what did those Initiative boys do? Let's see, shall we?!

Not up for grabs. Belongs to my buddy. This is a commissionless commission for a friend of mine who happens to like a Harry Potter character by the name of Remus Lupin. She thought my techniques might work well with him. Hmmm...

The Vampire Giles Evolution (my signature piece, if you will):  Here is a smattering of my fang-man from early to more current works. You can really see me sprouting from craptacular to quasi mediocre. These resulted in my wish to have graphics to accompany my Vampy Giles fics. Links to the fics are posted as appropriate.

Timing Is Everything. My first Vampy Giles.

Trying color for the first time.

Greater Good. This series required a decent vampire pic. I spent an excruciating amount of time trying to get the look I wanted.

ImMortal. The sequel to Greater Good and I slacked when it came to vamping this time. Gives you a look at the real vs. virtual vamp-face.

The first vampy G I was truly happy with.

For a friend. Actually my attempt to fix an early one I did. The earlier one was my second vampy Giles and very pitiful indeed. Eeep!

For a friend. They wanted to see fangs. Oh well.

Another for a friend. Strangely cartoony due to it being turned into an icon for LJ.

Happy Halloween!!!
Just in time to celebrate my favorite holiday, I'd made a spankworthy new manip turned festive wallpaper.

Conversations. Sad and first attempt at a veiny Giles. Insurgence. What time and practice can do. Safe to say I like this new, improved veiny Giles.

Ghost Giles, versions 1.0, for Letting Go and version 2.0 done for a friend.

VLC needed a scruffy, darker looking Ethan Rayne. My brilliantly talented buddy, Koala, offered up her dark vision of the Chaos Mage and forever changed my view of him. This is what resulted.

A LJ buddy of mine, Trekker inquired as to whether my bearding technique could be used to give Ethan a new hairstyle. Never one to pass on a challenge, I dabbled. Not up for grabs, folks. It belongs to my buddy.

Consider this a sneak preview for the story Watchers Keeper. This is a case where the graphic inspired the fic. Handsome devil.

Still curious as to the longer hairstyle but now in color. Fiddling around with all the Photoshop tools here. Mostly smudge (which is the ultimate tool for almost all I do).

An earlier "look" manip. Still like it though the background is way too obviously fuzzed and mended. But here is where I first caught on to the idea of highlight and shadow correction.

This is a more complex manip, literally chopping arms and pasting them, adding shadow and fixing tint. Fairly happy with the results. Cute.

Forgive me for the last badly done one. More of a joke than anything else.
